Well, there was a great lesson learned from all this.
OK, here it is
I'm sorry I haven't written ya'll the past few weeks. We just don't have that much time, and this internet point is really terrible. Six missionaries, and only 3 computers. Stupid. Anyway, We have had a few cool things go good for us. We got to eat at the house of one of the professional chefs, and it was one of the most amazing meals I've ever had. Also last week for pday we played a lot of ping pong, and I lost 11 strait games. I did not win once, and speaking of loosing... I played the 12 year old son of a member here at a game of chess. I thought I was ok, but this kid really destroyed me. I kind of got a little mad.
Enough with the loosing, just for ya'll info I'm not a complete looser. So, this week we got a baptisimal date. After meeting this guy for a week and a half we asked him to get baptized and he said yes. But a problem is that he moved to Napoli(Naples for you ignorant Americans) so we will not get to see him get baptized. Also it just seemed very weird because he was accepting everything that we told him. It just seemed very strange.
Well, the most exciting thing that happened to us this week is we went to an Evangelist church because a contact invited us to go, so we went. I must say it was interesting. They sang the same 4 songs for two hours, and they weren't bad songs but it got real repetative. I actually felt that I was at a young life meeting, but in italian. Then something really strange happened. The pastor stops playing the piano to walk around in the congregation to heal people. He would grab their heads and shake them really violently, and two old women even fainted and they just left them lying on the floor.(sorry I know the grammer in that sentence was really bad, but remember I'm not thinking in english anymore.)
Well, there was a great lesson learned from all this. A few weeks ago our Mission President told us that recognizing the Spirit was a very important thing. He told us that most of the time people confuse the Spirit with emotions. So, when I was in this Evangelist church I was singing the songs, and I remember thinking... wow, I feel good, is that the Spirit that I'm feeling? I had to stop and think for a moment and examine these feelings I was having. After a moment of examination I realized that the feelings I was expiriencing were excitment and nervousness, but it was not the Spirit. It was very strange, and then I remembered the words that our President had told us. It was true that most of the time emotions were mistaken for the Spirit. Then Sunday came around, and I remember as I took the sacrament I was overcome with the Spirit. The Book of Mormon talks about the Nephites being filled after they had taken the Sacrament, and at that moment I understood what that felt like. It was quite the learning expirience. Well I hope that all of you are doing well, and keep up the good work Jamie and Julianne.
Ya'll are awesome.
Ciao
